Many members attended our Annual Meeting at the Piedmont Center for the Arts on June 25, 2025, enjoying refreshments and connecting. PHS student Aliya Vora helped with meeting logistics. Secretary Kathleen Quenneville provided a leadership report, and highlighted the inspiring LWV California June convention, at which we had three delegates. Treasurer Jennifer Nixon reported that LWV Piedmont ended the year financially strong. Members approved the board's proposed 2025-26 budget. Inspiring PHS graduating senior Mary Schickedanz, the recipient of the League’s 2025 Civics In Action Medal, addressed the attendees. Two new board members were elected at the meeting: Lisa Gardner (President) and Margaret Reiss (Director at Large).
We wish to thank retiring board members Anita Stapen and Jennifer Trainor for their important service to LWVP. While Linda McClain remains on the board, she is stepping back from her long and valuable role as VP of Membership. We also appreciate the continuing contributions of City Council Observer Winifred Walters and Local League Coach Bonnie Hamlin. And we cannot end the Annual Meeting summary without thanking Lorrel Plimier for the indispensable knowledge transfer and insight she has provided!
