Join the League of Women Voters of The Bay Area for Death vs. Dollars – is Our Health an Individual or a Collective Responsibility? This event introduces the history, role and scope of Public Health in the United States, where it is and where it should be.

Speakers Dr. Sarah Rudman from the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department and Kimi Watkins-Tartt, Public Health Director Alameda County, will discuss the public health definition, its goals and purpose, its role in the community, a brief history in the US, and how it is applied in Alameda and Santa Clara Counties.

In July, MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) officially kicked off a two-and-a-half-year effort to develop Plan Bay Area 2050+. 

This webinar will focus on the core planning and technical assumptions that will inform the development of the plan, including their Regional Growth Forecast, work-from-home projections, as well as financial needs and revenue forecasts, among other areas.

The voters of Alameda county elected Pamela Price for District Attorney on a platform to reform the criminal legal system. After 7 months in office, how is it going?

The League of Women Voters of California (LWVC) strongly opposes Governor Newsom's recent decision to seek an Article V constitutional convention. The Constitution is a living document, representing the fundamental tenets on which our democracy rests. The LWVC supports targeted and focused policy action to address gun violence and the damage it is doing to our children and our communities, but a constitutional convention is not the right approach.

 VOTE YES ON SJR-8

The California legislature recently introduced SJR-8, a joint resolution championing federal legislation that would grant statehood and ensure full representation and voting rights to the people of Washington, D.C. The resolution would register California's support for federal legislation H.R. 51 and S. 51, the Washington, D.C. Admission Act, which provides that the people of the State of Washington, D.C. would have all the rights of citizenship as tax-paying American citizens, including two senators and at least one representative.
